Quick Guide to Job Interview Prep
Congratulations on getting a job interview! Good luck handling your nerves!
Job interviews are always a bit nerve wracking. What if you’re not a good fit? What if you blow up and forget to say important stuff? Sometimes I think we dread the after-interview ah-has about what we should have said more than the #jobinterview itself!
So here is the essence of how to prepare and go in feeling confident you’ll represent yourself well with fewer after-the-fact regrets.
1-list out the top 3 job requirements that you see in the job posting or get from the recruiter — PLUS one you don’t see but believe is probably important
2-next to each requirement, list the accomplishment and experience from your past that best demonstrates your ability to perform, or LEARN HOW to perform, that particular requirement
3-write out 2–3 key questions you have about that job that will help you determine if you want it or not
Go in armed with these points and the intention to share your most relevant accomplishments and experience. And set your intention to interview them as to whether this is a job you’d enjoy and which would move your #career forward.
Whether you’re in a #jobsearch or not, take every opportunity to practice these interview skills. This keeps your career narrative evolving and improves your chances of being in the right place at the right time to get the job of your dreams.
